Carlisle Regional Performing Arts Center - 80th Anniversary Gala

May 11, 1939 marks the date that the Comerford Theatre opened its doors to the Carlisle community. Eighty years later, this historical theatre, now known as the Carlisle Regional Performing Arts Center (Carlisle Theatre), continues to be, according to Mayor Tim Scott, “the crown jewel of the downtown”. To honor this monumental birthday, a gala and fundraiser is being held. The Birthday Gala will begin in the Theatre’s lobby with movie-themed hors d’oeuvres and drinks. Following the cocktail hour, a documentary featuring local “celebrity” stories of the Theatre will be shown. The documentary is currently being created by James Guardino, Founder and Creative Director of BYLINE Studio, with the assistance of two talented Dickinson College students. The gala will get into full “swing” in the Dennis Marion Public Service Building “Portico” where a swing band will perform and where creative food stations will continue to be inspired by films. The funds raised from the Gala will support all operational aspects of the Theatre, including: • The development of more collaborative community engaged programming; • The improvement of technical sound equipment; and • Renovations to the exterior and interior of the building. With the support of this incredible community, the improvements are already off to a great start. The marquee is shining brighter, a Classic Film Series has been initiated and improvements to the lobby are underway.
